?John Sims, the former head of Chubb’s personal lines operation, has returned to the market as chief executive of claims specialist Lorega.
Sims, who resigned suddenly from Chubb five months ago, will spearhead Lorega’s UK expansion plans.
Lorega helps commercial and personal lines brokers and their clients negotiate the settlement of complex claims.
It provides loss recovery insurance giving access to claims negotiators who work with brokers to settle claims.
Sims said his immediate priority was to expand Lorega’s relationships with brokers and insurers.
“I will spread the message to a wider audience of brokers over the next two years and also persuade insurers that Lorega’s offering adds value to their proposition, in terms of reputation and cost.”
He will replace Malcolm Harvey, who becomes chairman of the business.
Harvey said: “Lorega is on the cusp of being mainstream. We are profitable and in a unique niche area.
“We need a mainstream player to take us into the mainstream.”
He added that Lorega currently had a number of distribution agreements in place with major names in the insurance industry.
“These will have a radical effect on our growth. philosophy.”
