ERS hires new head of large loss claims as Ogden review process continues
Specialist Lloyd’s motor insurer ERS has appointed Declan O’Mahony in the position of head of large loss claims.
He joins ERS from law firm Kennedys, where his most recent role was senior associate. O’Mahony has previously worked as the deputy head of HSBC Insurance’s legal team.
In his new role he will focus on leading ERS through the Ogden review process and manage indemnity spending.
O’Mahony will report to interim claims director Gary Barker.
Commenting on O’Mahony’s appointment, Barker said: “Declan’s deep understanding of high value catastrophic injury claims, background in litigation and dispute resolution will be a real asset to our already reputable team. I am delighted to welcome someone of Declan’s calibre to lead our most complex claims proposition and deliver the comfort to our shareholders, regulators, and of course our brokers, that this most technically demanding area of our spend is in safe hands. This is particularly so in light of the recent changes to the Ogden rate.”
O’Mahony added: “I am very pleased to be joining the team at ERS and look forward to working with a technical unit which enjoys an enviable reputation in the market.”
