Police have arrested eight people in connection with a fraud ring which was allegedly operating staged motor accidents.
It follows a major investigation by the Insurance Fraud Bureau (IFB) and Hertfordshire Police serious and organised crime group. The eight people are currently being questioned in Hertfordshire police stations.
A large number of documents and vehicles have also been seized. Inquiries continue and the IFB is understood to be providing ongoing support to the police.
John Beadle, chairman of the IFB, said: “The success of this operation, which closely follows the 10 arrests resulting from Operation Exhort in Bedfordshire at the start of the month, sends a very clear message and significant deterrent to the criminals targeting innocent motorists and our industry.
“These two operations demonstrate the power of a collaborative partnership between police and insurers via the IFB.”
