McLaughlin will be part of the casualty survey team
Ecclesiastical has appointed Craig McLaughlin (pictured) as casualty technical manager. He previously worked as casualty risk control manager for Allianz.
The specialist church and charity insurer said the move was taken to strengthen the casualty survey team. McLaughlin will focus on improving the insurer’s procedures and standards, leading more complex surveys and developing and delivering training on casualty related topics.
McLaughlin has 24 years’ experience of working in the health and safety industry and, in the past 12 years, has worked in insurance for companies such as Independent Insurance, AXA and Allianz.
Ecclesiastical claims and risk services director David Bonehill said: “With casualty accounts causing issues for a number of insurers across the sector in the past few years in particular, it is clear we all need to take far more action to ensure we tackle these issues as soon as possible. We have been taking a number of steps already, but also felt strengthening our casualty team and being even more proactive with supporting our customers with risk management in the casualty arena will help reduce casualty issues for us going forward.
“Craig brings with him a wealth of experience, gained in the insurance and other industry sectors, which we can use to enhance our offering to our customers and to develop the skills among the existing team in the business.”
In his new role, McLaughlin will report to Ecclesiastical head of risk services Angus Roy.
