Long-serving executive promoted to replace retiring Andrew Jones
Specialist insurer Ecclesiastical has promoted Mark O’Riordan to head of group reinsurance.
He reports to chief financial officer Ian Campbell and is responsible for buying and assuring the adequacy of the reinsurance that protects all Ecclesiastical’s general business.
He replaces Andrew Jones, who will retire from the insurer at the end of this year.
O’Riordan joined Ecclesiastical in 1982 and was most recently group reinsurance manager for catastrophe risk.
In his new role O’Riordan will retain responsibility for placing and managing catastrophe cover for Ecclesiastical’s UK and global exposures.
Campbell said: “Having been part of the Ecclesiastical team for many years, Mark’s in-depth knowledge of the company and his extensive experience and strong relationships within the reinsurance sector make him the ideal successor for Andrew.”
He added: “On behalf of Ecclesiastical, I’d like to thank Andrew for his 29 years’ service. He has made a tremendous contribution towards Ecclesiastical’s excellent relationships with its reinsurers and brokers, and has developing a team that will be able to continue the excellent work of the department after he leaves.”
In addition to promoting O’Riordan, Ecclesiastical has given expanded roles to Andy Moxey, who is now group reinsurance manager for property risk, Caroline Marshall, who is now group reinsurance manager, casualty and counterparty risk, and Jo Lawrence, who is now senior reinsurance technician.
