Crawford & Company announces the launch of Crawford Environmental Pollution Claims Services (EPCS)
Crawford & Company UK has announced the creation of Crawford Environmental Pollution Claims Services (EPCS).
Crawford said the service is a direct response to increasing environmental legislation, specifically, the Environmental Liability Directive, which came into force 30th April 2007.
Covering both domestic and commercial environmental pollution claims, EPCS comprises three expert teams:
• The EPCS Property team specialises in controlling general first party property oil spills.
• The EPCS Major Incident-Technical Services team covers a wide range of major industrial incidents involving spills, blow outs, vapour releases, ruptured pipelines, fires and explosions. The service also covers other complex areas of contamination such as; hydrocarbon and chemical spills, asbestos pollution, radioactive leaks and of course the clean-up work required afterwards.
• The EPCS Liability team will manage third party issues and also handle all liability aspects in the aftermath of any pollution incident. The team will advise on current legislation and ensure clients are updated on any new legislation being introduced.
Benedict Burke, chief operating officer, UK & Ireland said: “With the Environmental Liability Directive now in force, it is vital that all environmental pollution claims are handled according to best practice and comply with these new regulations. Crawford has always been at the forefront of regulatory compliance within the industry and this provision further evidences our commitment to both this and quality servicing of specialist claims.”
He added: “Crawford Environmental Pollution Claims Services brings together existing talent from across the organisation as well as new expertise, which includes Aileen McDonnell, an environmental scientist who recently joined Crawford. The service is further enhanced by a specialist remediation contractor and environmental consultant. Our clients will benefit from the tight control within EPCS’s claims management process and the saving in costs that the service will provide.”
