83 firms, including insurers and brokers, sign up
The Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) has published a list of signatories to the Aldermanbury Declaration.
The declaration, launched approximately six months ago, provides firms from across the insurance sector with a common framework for embedding high standards within their business.
Barry Smith, past president of the CII and chairman of the Taskforce, said: "Insurance is based upon trust and the offer of peace of mind. A commitment to the Declaration sends a clear message to customers, employees and the regulator - a message about the importance of professional standards. By adhering to the objectives of the Declaration, I believe we can transform the insurance sector over time and in doing so create a profession that enjoys new-found trust and confidence.
"The Declaration's standards also support an environment that encourages personal and professional development, raising levels of knowledge and enhancing performance.
"I am really encouraged by the progress already made by the industry and we now need to continue that momentum."
Chris Hanks, president of the CII and new chair of the general insurance taskforce, said: "The declaration's standards are also about our market's prime asset: staff.
"Looking towards the future I hope that we can look to further promote personal and professional development, nurturing practitioners through their careers and encouraging them to fulfil their potential."
