Lloyd's insurer appoints James Brown
Chaucer has appointed James Brown as energy exploration and production class underwriter for Chaucer Syndicate 1084.
Following the creation of Chaucer’s new energy division in 2008, Brown will become the principal underwriter for offshore energy. Chaucer saud he will help to develop the energy account, taking advantage of the improving market conditions.
Brown has over 25 years of underwriting experience in the London Company Market. He joins Chaucer from Zurich Insurance Group, where he was senior underwriter for energy exploration and production. He has also held underwriting positions at CIGNA Insurance Company of Europe and CNA Insurance Company.
Brown said: “I see a huge amount of potential to develop the energy exploration and production account, particularly in the current climate, and I look forward to working closely with Chaucer’s energy teams, both in London and Singapore.”
Chris White, head of energy, Chaucer Syndicate 1084, added: “I am pleased to welcome James to the Energy Team. Since creating a dedicated division last year, the account has grown considerably. James’ experience in the offshore energy market will add further diversity to the account and create new opportunities for the team.”
