Specialist lines underwriting agency CFC has appointed Chris Gilson as its new UK & Ireland business development manager.

Gilson joins CFC from HCC International Insurance Company Ltd where he held the position of professional indemnity underwriter. His areas of expertise include broking, underwriting, customer service, client management and new business development.

In his new role, he will be responsible for developing the agency’s UK book of business across all of its product lines including technology, media, healthcare, life sciences, and professions across both the open market and online trading channels.

CFC director Graeme Newman (pictured) said: “Chris joins CFC at what is without doubt the most exciting period in our 12-year history. We have stepped out on our own with an impressive track record of year-on-year growth and an exciting future ahead of us with aggressive plans to continue that growth. I am delighted that Chris has joined our team. His expertise in customer relationship management and seeking out new business opportunities will play a key role in helping us achieve our ambitious goals.”

Gilson said: “CFC has been incredibly successful at building business internationally with almost 90% of all premium being generated from overseas. Now it is time for us to focus on developing our home market and I’m looking forward to leading the charge. I am also excited to be working alongside Graeme and the rest of the CFC team and hope to play a significant role in developing their broker and business development strategies.”
