MVRA's recent name change to MVRA Ltd will not affect its members or customers, its managing director has said.

MD Mike Monaghan said he wanted to clarify the motor trade association's position after "confusion and speculation" in the industry had left many members worried its future finances.

"As our original statement made clear, it really is business as usual for MVRA. We are continuing to focus on serving and representing our members in the ways that we have always done. I am very positive about the future of MVRA and its place within the motor industry.

"MVRA has always been an innovator, we have always looked at the market place differently to see what MVRA can offer repairers of all disciplines to make a real and tangible difference to them."

However Monaghan explained that "membership fees alone" are not sufficient to fund all the activities that members expect from trade associations.

"MVRA has the advantage here, I'm confident that the internal changes we've made will enable us to remain ahead of the game, to continue to effect changes and develop a broader range of services and products for our members and corporate customers alike.

"Another benefit of these changes is that we can now side step the political and emotional arguments that have long been a feature of the UK motor trade associations. We are all looking forward to focusing on the people and services that really matter to us our members and our customers."

Monaghan said the internal restructuring announced recently would mean splitting the association into two divisions: membership services and corporate services.

"This makes it much easier for members and clients to understand the way MVRA operates and how its many activities can and do benefit them.

"The purpose of corporate services is to market our members body, mechanical, MoT and motorcycle - to corporate clients who are looking for repair and inspection solutions tailored to meet their business objectives. All business created through corporate services is of direct benefit to our members enabling then to access work previously unavailable to them.

"Our clients are also happy with the formalisation of the new divisions. In fact, one of our prospective clients has made it clear that they are prefer the new structure as it puts their relationship with us on a purely commercial footing and that this will make all transactions between us more straightforward.

"At the moment we have several new contracts in the pipeline and hope to be making these announcements over the summer. As always, only our members will benefit from this work," he said.
