Specialist insurance broker, Footman James, has launched a new scheme to cover vintage motor vehicles in collections.

The new scheme, Laid-Up Vehicle Insurance Scheme, is aimed at specialist vehicle enthusiasts and collectors who have vehicles "laid-up" or "off-the-road".

The scheme gives cover for fire, damage and theft. In addition the scheme provides £2m of public liability cover, designed to protect owners against claims that could arise while their vehicle is at an exhibition.

Footman James managing director Peter James said: "Our new Laid-Up Scheme provides a very affordable way for enthusiasts to insure any cars they have which are not currently being used or are never used on the road."

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
