Brit Insurance has appointed Cees Schrauwers as senior independent director.
Schrauwers will take over the post from 1 December following the retirement of Don McCrickard at the end of the year.
Chairman of Alio Limited and DriveAssist UK Limited, Schrauwers joined the Group's Board in June 2005.
Additionally, Michael Smith and Joe MacHale will take over as chairmen of the Nomination and Remuneration Committees respectively on the same date. Peter Hazell will continue to chair the Audit Committee.
