Gilbert Business Insurance Brokers is Bluefin's latest acquisition
Bluefin has acquired St Albans-based Gilbert Business Insurance Brokers (GBIB).
GBIB was established in 1982 and is a predominantly commercial broker and places around £2.5m in annual premiums.
It joined the Bluefin Broker Partner Services network in 2008.
Bluefin chief executive Stuart Reid said: "Hot on the heels of our acquisition of G M Towns in Peterborough we are pleased to announce this second acquisition in the region. GBIB is well known to us as a member of our network and they have both a good client bank and an excellent reputation in the area.
"Over the next twelve months we will integrate them into the Bluefin group and we really look forward to having them on board. Their clients will continue to enjoy excellent local service and benefit from our buying power as a top ten insurance broker."
GBIB founder Geoff Gilbert added: "We are a very successful business and I think the time is right to join a larger company so our clients can benefit from additional resources and economies of scale.
"Bluefin isa national organisation with over fifty other offices around the UK and, from our experience as a Bluefin network broker, we know we’re a good fit for their style and culture.’
GBIB will continue to operate from their current offices for the immediate future and will ultimately relocate to Bluefin premises in Milton Keynes.
