AXA-owned broker acquires Norwich-based WWSI and Middlesex-based Staines Insurance Consultants
Bluefin has made its first two acquisitions of 2014: Norwich-based broker World Wide Sports Insurance (WWSI) and Middlesex-based broker Staines Insurance Consultants.
AXA-owned broker Blufin’s chief financial officer Tim Philip told Insurance Times last week that the company was close to announcing two deals.
WWSI is a specialist sports and commercial insurance broker. Bluefin completed the acquisition in January and will integrate most of WWSI’s business into its Bluefin Sport division.
Staines Insurance Consultants offers a range of insurance, including motor trade, maritime and commercial property. Bluefin completed its acquisition in February and the business will move into Bluefin’s Ashford office to become part of the broking group’s commercial division.
Staines Insurance Consultants director Huseini Jaffer said: “Bluefin has an excellent reputation in the industry and we are delighted to become part of the group.
“Being part of Bluefin presents a number of opportunities. Access to a broader base of support and expertise will enable us to deliver an enhanced range of services to our clients.”
Bluefin chief executive Mike Bruce added: “We are extremely pleased to have completed these two acquisitions early in the year, especially as they are high quality businesses that complement our existing offering.
“Throughout 2014 we will increase our acquisition activity and intend to capitalise on the growing momentum by continuing to consider well-run, small to medium-sized businesses.”
