Biba considers code of practice

Biba is to engage members on future code of practice.

Following a strategic review, and the input of its members, the association will play a more active role in the industry and its standards.

Biba chief executive Steve White said: “When we carried out our strategic review, members told us, in a clear voice, that they wanted Biba to play more of a role in driving up the level of professionalism in our sector. During our autumn tour of each of the 13 Biba regions, this topic has also been raised with our members.

“Today, I have announced that we will be taking forward this particular strand of our strategic review and we will be formally consulting with members on what professionalism looks like.

“This could perhaps manifest itself in a code of practice, a code of conduct or a code of ethics. It will be up to our members to tell us precisely what they would like us to do in this space, then it will be up to me, as CEO, to carry that out.”
