Biba boss Eric Galbraith reflects on his time in the top job before he steps down in 2013
Having decided to stand down next year, I was reflecting on what the Biba team has achieved during my near decade in office and what I hope will be a legacy for future success.
Possessing a great job and working with talented people has been a big part of my time at Biba. Prior to Biba I was a broker and I am ashamed to admit my view was very inward-looking and company-focused. Thankfully though, I now have a much more holistic view of the market, my perspective broadened by the support of a large number of members who are fully committed to helping Biba promote and protect our sector’s interests.
Working with a wide range of members has enabled the Biba team to achieve much during my time here. Doubling membership numbers, growing our political influences and engagement with the regulator while strengthening the balance sheet are a few of the things which have helped to develop Biba’s voice.
Continuing this engagement with members on an even more targeted basis will be one part of Biba’s strategic review to build on our success for the future. And while I will be watching this from what I hope will be another vantage point in the broking sector next year, I would like to thank all those members who have contributed to Biba’s success now. We could not have done it without you.
Retrospection complete, it’s back to work. We still have many serious issues to address.
