CEO for three months fed up with government oversight
Robert Benmosche has told the AIG board he wants to quit as chief executive because of the restraints imposed by the government, the Wall Street Journal reports.
The WSJ says he told fellow AIG directors that he was "done" but was talked in to staying.
The recent pay and bonuses review by the Obama administration's pay czar, Kenneth Feinberg, was a major factor.
Impossible situation
The WSJ quoted an un-named source as saying that Benmosche's frustrations "hit a crescendo. Bob feels he is in an impossible situation."
Benmosche has developed a reputation for making provocative remarks and ruffling feathers as he seeks to achieve his goals, the WSJ said.
