Barbican's UK MGA signs capacity deal with Inter Hannover

Lloyd’s insurer Barbican’s UK non-life underwriting agency has signed a capacity deal with insurer Inter Hannover.

Under the deal, Hannover Re-owned Inter Hannover will provide underwriting capacity to Barbican Underwriting Limited alongside Barbican’s own Syndicate 1955 for UK non-life business.

Barbican Underwriting was launched in 2011 and already has a presence in the UK non-life market, but the company said the additional capacity from Inter Hannover will allow it to grow its market position.

Barbican Underwriting’s head of UK insurance Stuart Kilpatrick said: “Over the past three years, Barbican Underwriting has worked hard to secure its position in what is a highly competitive sector of the market.

“This new underwriting facility with Inter Hannover provides us with the ability to further capitalise on the successful relationships we have built with our brokers to achieve strong, sustainable, long-term growth.”

Inter Hannover chief executive Nick Parr added: “This underwriting arrangement with Barbican Underwriting reaffirms our commitment to the UK market.”
