LV= has hired Aviva personal lines managing director Steve Treloar to replace outgoing general insurance managing director John O’Roarke.

LV= expects Treloar to join in the second quarter of 2016, subject to regulatory approval.

The insurer has been searching for a new general insurance managing director as O’Roarke’s contract runs out at the end of this year.

O’Roarke joined LV= after the company bought the company he founded, ABC Insurance Services, in 2006 to form its general insurance business.

O’Roarke and his fellow ABC founders have since been the core of LV=’s general insurance management team. Their contracts all expire at the end of this year.

LV= Broker managing director Phil Bunker is stepping into an advisory role in early 2016, while general insurance chief operating officer Peter Horton is leaving to pursue other projects.

Incoming general insurance managing director Treloar has worked in the industry for 19 years and has held a number of senior roles at Aviva and RBS Insurance – now known as Direct Line Group.

LV= group chief executive Mike Rogers said: “Following an extensive search I’m delighted to welcome Steve Treloar as our new managing director of general insurance.

“Steve’s in-depth knowledge of the general insurance market makes him the ideal person to build on the strong platform that John O’Roarke and the team have created.”

Treloar added: “I’m very excited to be joining LV=, a company with a strong reputation for quality products and excellent service. The general insurance business is in great shape and I look forward to working with Mike and the rest of the board to help grow and develop it further.”
