Amlin posted encouraging interim results this morning, with its combined ratio improving to 73%.

In the six months to 30 June, pre-tax profits rose by
17% to £74.2m and gross premiums written up by 6.7% to £709.7m. The six-month return on equity was 13.3%, said Amlin.

Chief executive Charles Philipps said: "The trading outlook remains strong, providing us with sound prospects of being able to continue to deliver good returns on equity."
