Ratings agency AM Best has assigned an A- insurer credit rating for Aviva, along with assigning financial strength ratings for several of its key subsidiaries.
CGU International and Norwich Union Insurance have both been given A (excellent) ratings, while Morley Pooled Pensions was assigned an A- (excellent) rating.
Following these ratings actions, AM Best said the financial strength ratings of Aviva's rated core subsidiaries have been upgraded from B++ (very good) to A (excellent).
The outlook for all the ratings remains stable.
Based on public information, AM Best said the ratings reflected Aviva's superior business profile, excellent but weakened risk-based capitalisation and excellent financial flexibility.
The main offsetting factor was the deterioration in Aviva's consolidated financial performance, said the ratings agency.
