Allied World Assurance Company has anticipated net losses of between $200m and $250m as a result of Hurricane Katrina.
The insurer said in a statement that the estimate, which is preliminary, includes expected losses from the company's direct insurance business, as well as its reinsurance portfolio of general property and catastrophe business.
