Two dead and 13 injured after accident

AIG is the insurer of the helicopter that crashed in London earlier today.

The helicopter hit a crane in the Vauxhall area this morning, killing two and injuring 13.

Eight fire engines, four fire rescue units and approximately 80 firefighters were called out.

The crash damaged cars and buildings in the area, and caused significant disruption to transport.

The helicopter was an AgustaWestland AW109 owned by charter firm Castle Air.

An AIG spokesman said: “Our thoughts and sympathies are with the bereaved and injured in this morning’s accident. We are already liaising with the AAIB and the emergency services investigating the accident and it is our intention to give proactive support to our policyholder and those affected as appropriate.

“As the market leader in aerospace risks, AIG has both the expertise and experience in handling accidents of this sort and that experience will be applied for the benefit of those covered.”
