Alberto Schiavon takes over from Henry Engelhardt
Admiral has appointed 31-year-old Alberto Schiavon (pictured below) to lead Elephant Insurance, its US business.
At 31, Schiavon is Admiral’s youngest CEO and one of the youngest in the market.
Engelhardt, who temporarily stepped out of retirement to lead Elephant in March 2017, told Insurance Times that the US market was ripe for price comparison sites and direct sales.
“I’m excited to lead Elephant as we continue to innovate, grow, and offer the best service to our customers,” said Schiavon. “We have a very talented herd, both in Richmond and in Dallas, and I know we will achieve great things with this team.”
Elephant, based in Richmond, Virgina, gave 350 staff a pay rise last month.
Founded in 2009, Elephant is a direct-to-consumer insurance company offering auto, home, motorcycle, and life products to customers nationally
Schiavon, originally from Venice, Italy, joined Admiral in 2012 as an international pricing manager.
His most recent post was UK director of sales and marketing. Schiavon moved to Richmond in March 2017 to head up marketing and pricing.
