Software house Acturis has won the contract to handle Swinton Business, the commercial broking division of Swinton Group, seeing off rival SSP, the incumbent software house.

The expected GWP for Swinton Business in 2006 is £14m and the policy count will be 27,000.

Acturis co-chief executive Theo Duchen said: "Swinton is a big broker in its own right in commercial. We've done really well. This is a big deal for the market. The main thing is to ensure our clients get the most out of the work we put in."

Paul Cassidy, head of information systems development at Swinton, said: "We are sending a clear signal to the market with this development that Swinton is serious about commercial business."

Swinton's personal lines business will remain with SSP

Swinton will use Acturis' features to compare products from up to nine specialist SME insurers across 13 classes of business.
