Broker Stuart Alexander is to implement the Acturis system in its Southampton-based small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) business centre.

Managing director Stuart Reid said that rather than piloting the system, the broker had decided to move straight to implementation.

"We believe the connectivity offering from Acturis is better than the competition," Reid said. "Their cost model suits us."

He said that he considered the deal a "toe in the water" that could lead to the Acturis system being rolled out across other parts of Stuart Alexander. Reid said the SME unit deals with individual premiums up to £5,000 and handles total premium income of around £3m.

Acturis co-chief executive Theo Duchen welcomed the deal. "It's good news," he said. "They've seen enough of other customers' systems to realise they can get sufficient efficiency savings."
