AM Best has assigned an A- (excellent) financial strength rating to Bermuda-based Aetna Life and Casualty, with a stable outlook.
It said the rating reflected Aetna's favourable earnings, its excellent stand-alone capitalisation and the financial strength of its parent company, Aetna Inc.
An offsetting factor in the rating was an anticipated modest decline in Aetna's risk-based capital ratios during the medium term, driven by increased sales, said the ratings agency.
