Zurich hopes the partnership will bring smart tech into British homes
Zurich has teamed up with smart tech company Cocoon to offer cheaper home insurance for customers using Cocoon’s all-in-one home security device.
UK customers can buy the device (pictured) at a discounted premium and receive a 10% discount on Zurich home insurance if eligible.
Cocoon’s device, which can monitor the whole home, can be installed by the user.
It uses infrasound - below the range of human hearing - to detect intruders and will alert the user by sending a video to their phone if it picks up anything unusual.
The user can then decide how to respond.
Zurich head of innovation Helen Jales said: “Smart devices for the house - for example, thermostats, leak detectors and security alarms - have the ability to help customers understand and manage risks to their home much more easily and quickly than ever before.
“This is an exciting time to be partnering with such a pioneering business and we look forward to hearing how our customers use them.”
