XL Capital has promoted Donal Kelly from head of client relationship management to country manager and deputy chief operating officer for the UK and Ireland. Kelly has been with the XL group for six years.
He replaces Eileen McCusker in his new role. McCusker has been appointed chief operating officer for the UK and Ireland.
McCusker said: "This appointment is a continuation of our strategic plan to integrate our underwriting, regional management and sales operations. I believe Donal's extensive experience of client relationship management will help us to deliver more robust and better integrated support to our customers as we continue to grow our insurance operations in the UK and Ireland."
XL Capital also announced that Dermot O'Donohoe, chief underwriting officer of XL Insurance's specialty operations, is expected to assume the position of active underwriter following the resignation of Paul Drake, subject to regulatory approval.
Clive Tobin, chief executive of XL Capital's insurance operation, said: "Lloyd's is an important component in our insurance operations. Dermot's strong leadership and acute business expertise coupled with his experience of the Lloyd's market will enhance XL Insurance's focus on providing quality service and products to brokers and clients across all markets."
