Willis has said it will cut 400 jobs in a bid to increase efficiency at the company.

The group stated that the job cuts would be primarily in the UK, both in its retail and London market operations.

The broker announced the cuts alongside its results.

When questioned about the possible acquisition of rival broker Marsh, Willis' chief executive Joe Plumeri, reportedly refused to comment.
