Employees pay tribute to outgoing chief exec during final visit
Willis employees in Ipswich have paid tribute to outgoing group chief executive Joe Plumeri by naming a patch of grass after him, the East Anglian Daily Times reports.
The tribute follows Plumeri’s final visit to his company’s Ipswich operation. He will hand the chief executive reins to Dominic Casserley on 7 January 2013, and leave the company in July, when his contract expires. He will serve as non-executive chairman from January until his departure.
According to the paper, staff have named a patch of grass outside the office, which is about the shape of a baseball diamond, “Plumeri’s Field”. The gesture is in honour of Plumeri’s love of baseball.
The East Anglian Daily Times quoted Plumeri as saying that he had a “special fondness” for the Ipswich operation thanks to the long service of many of its staff.
