Ian Gale, Ex-COO for Willis Re UK, takes on the role
Willis has announced the appointment of Ian Gale as strategic leader for Ipswich.
Gale has been with Willis for more than 30 years, largely with Willis Re where he was chief operating officer for the UK.
Since the beginning of this year he has headed up several group projects as part of Willis’ Shaping Our Future programme – a series of strategic initiatives designed to continually improve Willis’ financial leadership.
He also has executive responsibility for the group’s Mumbai office, a mirror operation to Ipswich.
Willis says the move will further strengthen the Ipswich office’s role as a significant global support centre and retail operation.
Commenting on Gale’s appointment, Grahame Millwater, chief operating officer, said: “Ipswich is an important hub of global Group activity where we anticipate moving even more work. Ian’s strong leadership and executive oversight for both our Ipswich and Mumbai operations will foster even greater collaboration between the two locations. This will further enhance our service capabilities which are so crucial in driving Willis’ next phase of growth.”
The company employs more than 1,200 staff in Ipswich.
