Danny Walkinshaw looks at the latest insurance stories online

The claims community has been busy recently, and nowhere more so than at Insurance Times’ claims clinics. So it felt right to share what the participants have been up to with an online photo gallery for insurancetimes.co.uk subscribers.

It rounds up the action from the three events so far this year, as claims directors and loss adjusters, to name but a few in attendance, came together to tackle issues such as the Ministry of Justice’s personal injury reforms and everybody’s favourite subject: climate change. Photos of the often heated panel debates and the round-table discussions proved a hit with visitors to the site, who clicked avidly through almost 30 snaps.

Look out for more online coverage of claims clinics, plus new galleries from the IT Pack and other industry events.

Also getting attention online was news that well-travelled broker boss Tom Ernoult was set to leave consolidator Giles. The story, broken exclusively by insurancetimes.co.uk, came just six months after Ernoult joined Giles after less than a year as managing director of Oxygen Insurance Brokers.

Claims came into the spotlight again but it was the brokers doing the talking this time. Biba revealed the results of its latest research, which showed insurers dragging their feet paying claims and brokers having to fight harder to secure payments for their clients in the recession.

Elsewhere on the web, AIG’s new chief executive, Bob Benmosche, got plenty of coverage as it emerged he could earn $13.5m in his first year in the job.
