The latest insurance stories online
The sound of clicking mouse buttons could be heard in brokers’ offices around the country as web users scrambled to the site to read our latest online exclusive.
My interview with Aviva’s new UK general insurance chief executive, titled ‘In the spotlight: Aviva’s David McMillan Q&A’ went down a storm with visitors to the site. The two-part Q&A came just six weeks after McMillan was installed in the top job at the UK’s largest insurer, and he answered the key questions that the market was seeking, shooting it into this week’s top ten list of most popular stories.
The proposed sale of Kwik-Fit Insurance was the overall favourite, however, and may have come as a surprise to many, who wouldn’t have expected to see that headline appear on their computer screens first thing on a Monday morning.
But it was not only insurancetimes.co.uk that picked up the news about the motor giant, with many leading financial news sites choosing to run the story, as well as the specialist ones, including tyrepress.com – the website dedicated to the European tyre trade.
Also back in the headlines, and to the delight of some, was Chris Blackham, the founder of Layton Blackham. His non-executive appointment at broker Howden prompted one online user to comment: “Chris Blackham is one of a kind and Howden have secured a major asset.” Heavy praise indeed.
We also broke the story about Jelf’s deal to secure a new £24m debt facility, which made it to number five this week.
Meanwhile, the latest ‘On The QT’ blog can also be found on the site, along with ‘Five things you didn’t know about …’, which recently featured Groupama’s Kevin Kiernan.
