John Wagstaff has retired from the Insurance Fraud Bureau (IFB).

Wagstaff has worked in the insurance industry for 26 years.

Sue Jones, head of unit at the IFB said: “John has been a huge asset to the Bureau contributing to its development and growth with his wealth of knowledge and experience.

“He played an integral role in the success of Operation Crow which led to the arrests of 18 individuals in Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire and the seizure of assets to the value of circa £5 million.”

Wagstaff started his career in the insurance industry in 1980 when he joined the ABI as manager of the Crime and Fraud Prevention Bureau.

During the next 20 years he worked closely with members and central government bodies and was responsible for lobbying on proposed new fraud legislation. In 2002, John joined Royal & SunAlliance as Intelligence Co-ordinator for their Counter Fraud Unit and was largely responsible for setting up a central intelligence unit.

He joined the IFB in March 2006, helping with the set up phase of the service and has continued as a Case Manager until the current day.
