Eight candidates go head to head for 4 seats
The Lloyd’s market is set to vote for four new members of the Lloyd’s Market Association’s governing body in what has become the most competitive election in the LMA’s 11-year history.
Eight candidates are standing for four seats on the LMA board, with the result due to be announced at the LMA’s annual general meeting on 30 May.
The ballot closes on Friday 18 May.
The eight candidates include Ian Beaton, Ark Syndicate Management Ltd, Andrew Brooks, Ascot Underwriting Ltd, Charles Franks, R. J. Kiln & Company Ltd, Martin Hudson, Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Underwriting at Lloyd’s, Andrew Kendrick, ACE Underwriting Agencies Ltd, David Reeves, Barbican Managing Agency Ltd, Nicholas Sinfield, Catlin Underwriting Agencies Ltd, and Michael Watson, Canopius Managing Agents Ltd.
LMA chief executive David Gittings (pictured) said: “It’s extremely pleasing to see so much interest from the market in serving on the LMA board. With eight candidates for four seats, this is the first time we’ve had such a high degree of competition in our Board election, which I believe reflects the increasingly important role the LMA is playing in the market’s life.”
The LMA board has 12 elected members. Elections take place each year when one third of the elected members stand down.
Voting is weighted based on the managing agency’s capacity, giving each managing agency 1 to 4 votes.
