Hastings chairman Neil Utley has entered the Sunday Times Rich List top 1000 at 430= with a fortune of £160m.

Utley, who was previously chief executive of IAG UK, has overtaken Hastings founder David Gundlach, who sold the business to Insurance Australia Group in 2006.

He saw his wealth rise by £50m to £140m ranking him 703=.

Other newcomers to the list include Go Compare founder and chief executive Hayley Parsons who ranked at 751= with a fortune of £95m.

This makes Parsons the 20th richest person in Wales and 81= richest woman overall.

Admiral founder Henry Engelhardt ranked highest amongst insurance industry figures at 120= with £640m, increasing £76m on last year.

Direct Line and Esure founder Peter Wood is on the list at 457= with £150m, an increase of £30m.

Co-founders of motor insurer Sabre's parent Binomial Angus Ball and Keith Morris enter the Rich List top 1000 at 751= with £95m each. Last year the pair were ranked at 1470= on £42m.

Towergate founder Peter Cullum's fortune grew £50m to £450m. He ranked at 178=.

Elsewhere, Grahame Chilton, who sold Benfield to Aon in 2008 is at 776= with £93m.
