Underwriting Risk Services (URS) has recruited a specialist fine art team to support a new specialist package for brokers.

The company, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Talbot Underwriting, will have up to $20m of risk capacity. URS said it expected the account would be produced predominately by London brokers.

URS said the new recruits were underwriter Kevin McCarthy and assistant underwriter Rachel Shey.

The company said they would focus on private collections of art, museums, exhibitions and corporate collections, as well as other specific areas of specie cover.

McCarthy said: “We have developed a new specialist product whereby we can offer a package service to brokers that will relieve them of a lot of time-consuming work.

“With our new resources and back-up at URS/Talbot we shall be able to provide a high quality service.

URS managing director Nicholas Hales said: “We hope to expand the business by marketing our product through our existing extensive distribution network of agents.”
