Tailby appointed head of business development
Leeds-based insurer UK General has appointed Andrew Tailby as head of business development in the commercial division.
Tailby, who will report to commercial managing director Cathie Bruce, starts his new role this month.
Bruce said: “I am delighted that we are able to attract high-quality people like Andrew to join our team. This appointment takes us another step closer to achieving our goals of getting closer to our partner brokers, making us easy to do business with, growing the commercial business and contributing to UK General’s overall aim of reaching £300m GWP in the next phase.”
Tailby, who will oversee the management of the business development team, said: “Cathie painted a compelling picture of the scale of ambition for the business in the commercial space. It is still a tough market, but I am looking forward to playing my part in building a successful team and growing our commercial book.”
Tailby joins after running his own successful sales training company. Prior to that, he spent three years between 2008 and 2011 as national sales director at Towergate LLP. He had previously held a number of senior sales roles in a variety of financial services businesses.
