The head of Alexander Forbes' UK retail business has left the company in mysterious circumstances.
An Alexander Forbes representative said: "We regret that Tim Wilson, head of UK retail, has decided to leave Alexander Forbes with immediate effect, to pursue other career opportunities.
"We would like to thank Tim for the contribution he has made to the company over the last eight years."
Market sources said Wilson lost the board's confidence after missing financial targets. Alexander Forbes refused to comment.
