Deal marks beginning of expansion into wider African region
United Insurance Brokers (UIB) has won a “prestigious” aviation account from Jardine Lloyd Thompson (JLT), picking up Moroccan flag carrier Royal Air Maroc following a tender process.
The win increases UIB’s presence in North Africa and the company is also targeting expansion in the wider African region, both in aviation and other commercial lines of business.
UIB, which is also broker for Air Algérie, claims to own a “significant share of the North African airline market”.
Royal Air Maroc has a fleet of 71 aircraft with a value of $1.5bn (£929m) and its routes cover the USA, Europe and the Middle East. UIB Aviation divisional director Francesco Alessi said Royal Air Maroc was a “prestigious account to win” after beating competition from Marsh and Willis.
