Eradicating fraud against insurers is priority says IFB
Two more people have been charged in connection with a multi-million pound insurance scam.
Kevin Underwood, 33, of Watford and Dr Vikas Kapoor, 35, High Wycombe are suspected of being involved in the plot to defraud the UK insurance industry.
Four legal and medical professionals were charged in September for their alleged involvement in the plot.
Underwood and Kapoor were bailed and are due to appear at City of London Magistrates on 6 December.
The ongoing investigation is part of a joint operation with City of London Police, General Medical Council and the Solicitors Regulation Authority.
Detective Superintendent Bob Wishart, of City of London Police's economic crime directorate, said: "We are taking this crime very seriously and we are continuing to work closely with the IFB and regulators in the industries to eradicate this type of criminal activity."
Glen Marr, director, Insurance Fraud Bureau, said: "We are continuing to develop relationships with professional organisations, trade bodies, Government and law enforcement agencies, to ramp up our counter-fraud activities. Rooting out and disrupting professionals who feature in any act of organised fraud against insurers is a priority for the IFB and will continue to be so."
