He replaces Andy Fairchild, who is now Broker Network chief executive
Towergate has promoted marketing director David Bond to director of classic car broker Footman James, Insurance Times has learned.
The former marketing director will report directly to Towergate Direct divisional managing director, Amanda Walton.
Prior to joining Footman James in 2012, Bond held marketing and customer-facing roles within Commercial Union, Eagle Star, Barclays Bank and Npower.
He replaces Andy Fairchild, who was recently appointed as Broker Network chief executive.
Commenting on Bond’s appointment, Towergate Direct division chief executive James Tugendhat said: “I approached David with this opportunity knowing that his skill set and experience make him the ideal candidate to lead Footman James.
“It feels great once again to be hand picking talent from within the Towergate businesses to build a first class management team – it is a real testament to our succession planning.”
Bond said: “Footman James is a great business with market leading products and great people.
“My aim is to ensure Footman James continues to support the classic vehicle movement, the clubs, motor traders, collectors and enthusiasts alike so that they can continue to enjoy their passion for keeping classic vehicles on the road.”
Aon sold the classic car broker to Towergate in December for £15m – a fraction of the £61.6m it was purchased for in 2007.
At the time, Towergate chief executive Mark Hodges said the broker would compliment Towergate’s existing cherished car book.
