Baughan replaces departing Paul Jewell
Towergate has hired former RSA pricing director Andy Baughan (pictured) as its new chief underwriting officer.
He replaces Paul Jewell, who has been the broking group’s chief underwriting officer since October 2013.
Towergate said Jewell is leaving “to pursue his next career move” and credited him with making “significant progress in building our underwriting capability and presence over the previous 24 months”.
Before joining Towergate Baughan was product and pricing director for UK personal lines at RSA. He has also worked for Tesco Underwriting, Zurich Financial Services, Churchill Insurance Group and Hiscox in a variety of senior underwriting roles.
In his new role he will report to underwriting chief executive and group chief operating officer Adrian Brown.
Baughan said: “The Towergate opportunity is without doubt the most exciting proposition in the UK insurance market.
“The scope to build upon an already admired underwriting business, coupled with the support of leading carriers and backed by long term financial investment is an irresistible personal challenge.”
Brown added: “Andy will help build on what is already a market leading MGA by bringing his own ideas on how to grow this business in collaboration with our brokers and insurer partners.”
