Towergate wants to triple the size of its Edinburgh office as part of an acquisition drive in Scotland.

Towergate Scotland managing director Kenny Hogg wants to grow the consolidator's Edinburgh operation to about 60 staff, matching its presence in Glasgow.

Hogg recently brought in Stuart George and Peter Fraser from Heath Lambert.

Towergate will use some of its £100m acquisition war chest to add to its 14 offices and 250 staff in Scotland.

"We're looking to broaden our general insurance business in Edinburgh, offering a personal service to local clients but backing that up with the buying power of a much larger firm," Hogg told Scotland on Sunday.
