Towergate branch manager quits for broker Clements

Ex-Towergate Sevenoaks managing director Kevin Sargeant has been appointed as Clements Worldwide new UK and Europe broking director.

He will report to Clements London MD Simon Townsend whom he briefly reported to at Towergate.

In his new role Sargeant will be focused on driving growth in the broker’s preferred international commercial markets, developing bespoke offerings to organisations operating in high-risk areas or specialist cover to protect assets and people.

He will also be responsible for developing trading relationships with niche insurers, MGAs and brokers to provide broader capacity options within the London market.

Townsend told Insurance Times: “I am delighted that Kevin Sargeant has joined us from Towergate. Kevin is an outstanding insurance professional who matches his expertise and integrity with drive and enthusiasm that fits perfectly with Clements culture.”

Townsend resigned from his position as Towergate’s south-east regional managing director on 31 December and joined Clements in February.

He had been responsible for the Sevenoaks, Bury St Edmonds, Great Yarmouth, Maidstone, London Coverex and Romford branches.

At the time he joined Clements, Townsend said his initial focus was to restructure the London-based operation to support its growth strategy for the UK and European books of business.

“Having completed that, and with Kevin’s appointment, it will allow me to further develop and deliver our European expansion plans including direct and wholesale distribution, as well as setting-up strategic, regional sales and service hubs in our chosen territories,” Townsend added.

“I retain overall responsibility for Clements UK and Europe business operations and Kevin reports directly to me. 

“We have worked together previously at both HSBC and Towergate and have retained a good relationship since first achieving success together back in 2004. In addition to his broking role, he will also be a very capable second-in-command.”

Clements Worldwide is a specialist provider of personal and commercial ex-pat insurance. It has retail and wholesale books of business.
