Gallagher poised to pick up more senior staff from consolidator
Nigel Palmer has resigned from his position running the affinity business at Towergate Underwriting, Insurance Times understands.
He is believed to be heading to Gallagher where former colleague and head of retail broking Dave Partington (pictured above) is expected to join.
Gallagher has been successful in poaching a number of staff from the consolidator, including Simon Read and Scott Banks, the respective heads of Towergate’s Commercial and Homeowners who joined in June.
Insurance Times understands the affinity arms is one of the most profitable parts of the business and Palmer was highly-rated by the consolidator.
Palmer is the latest in a string of senior staff to head for the door which includes ex-operations director Max Carruthers, ex- Powerplace chief executive Matthew Reed, former deputy chief executive Amanda Blanc, who are all now at AXA.
Towergate declined to comment. The consolidator believes it has the talent to quickly replace any departures.
Towergate was boosted in the summer by the arrival of highly-rated Aviva UK head Mark Hodges and Admiral chairman Alastair Lyons.
