Broker network launches new operating model
TEn Insurance has widened its operating model to include larger established brokers as well as start-up brokers.
A spokesman for TEn, a network for independent commercial brokers, said the model gives broker members the opportunity to keep up to 75% commission and cherry-pick services from the network.
James Sharp, business development director at TEn, said: “Our model has worked very well for start-ups and we’ve brought on board over 50 members in the past five years. It has also supported those members who have achieved a certain size and are happy to maintain that scale of operation and who don’t wish to become an employer. We will always continue to meet those needs. However, by flexing our current business model, brokers of any size can now find a home in TEn Insurance.
“I often use the metaphor of different types of hotel accommodation to illustrate our new model; while one guest might be a first time traveller and would prefer the security of full board, another guest might prefer to stay the night, but eat elsewhere….others might only want to use the gym facilities! It’s all about choice and empowering brokers to access the support they want rather than imposing on them the support we think they need.”
