Swiss Re said shareholders at its EGM have approved the creation of additional capital needed to finance its previously announced acquisition of GE Insurance Solutions from General Electric.
In addition, John Coomber, former CEO of Swiss Re, and Dennis Dammerman, previously vice chairman of the board of GE, were elected to Swiss Re's board of directors.
GE will become Swiss Re's largest shareholder, owning between 10-13% of Swiss Re's share capital once the deal is closed.
