Last original member of Swiftcover executive team resigns
AXA UK’s marketing director for personal lines direct and partnerships Tina Shortle (pictured) has resigned.
Shortle co-founded Swiftcover, the direct motor insurer that AXA UK bought in 2007. She was the only member of the original Swiftcover executive team still remaining at AXA.
An AXA spokeswoman said: “We can confirm that Tina Shortle, sales and marketing director for AXA direct and partnerships, has resigned to take up an external marketing consultancy opportunity.
“Tina has been part of Swiftcover and AXA for over eight years and has made a great contribution to the development of both brands.
“We wish her all the best for the future, and thank her for her contribution, dedication and loyalty. Tina is continuing to support the business as we search for her successor.”
Shortle’s departure closely follows that of fellow ex-Swiftcover co-founder and AXA personal lines chief claims officer Robin Reames, another Swiftcover founder and AXA personal lines customer services managing director Dave Fretter, and AXA IT director Rod Alderton, formerly Swiftcover IT application development director.
Their departures were revealed in January.
Shortle became AXA’s personal lines marketing director in 2010, moving over from Swiftcover.
In November 2012 her role changed to sales and marketing director for AXA UK’s personal lines direct and partnerships business.
This followed the split of AXA UK’s direct and brokered personal lines. The brokered personal lines business transferred to a new division, commercial lines and personal intermediary, run by Amanda Blanc.
Shortle joined Swiftcover in 2004. She was head of marketing at Churchill Insurance, now part of Direct Line Group, from 1998 to 2003.
